Tarian Hamdolok atau juga dikenali sebagai masadeka’ merupakan sejenis tarian yang terkenal di Johor. Tarian ini dipersembahkan semasa majlis-majlis keramaian/pesta, pertunjukan seni dan di rumah-rumah kenduri-kendara.

Hamdolok apabila dipersembahkan mengandungi unsur-unsur seni nyanyian, tarian serta permainan muzik. Setiap ahli kumpulan yaag terdiri antara lima belas hingga dua puluh orang, memainkan peranan masing-masing mengikut jenis watak, pakaian serta alat muzik yang mereka mainkan.

Di majlis-majlis tersebut tarian ini berfungsi sebagai hiburan bagi memeriahkan lagi suasana di samping terus memperkenalkan dan mempertahankan keseniannya supaya ia tidak luput dari pengenalan masyarakat.

Hamdolok dikatakan diasaskan di bawah ilham seorang pemuzik Melayu Asli iaitu Encik Rahmat atau lebih dikenali di daerahnya sebagai ‘Rahmat Wayang’. Beliau dilahirkan di Singapura, kemudian berhijrah dan menetap terus di Parit Besar, Bagan, Batu Pahat, Johor.

Wak Rahmat (Encik Rahmat) mendapat ilham untuk mencipta tarian hamdolok ini berasaskan kepada cerita yang pernah diceritakan oleh Haji Osman Jahit. Haji Osman yang berasal dari Singapura telah pergi menuntut ilmu ke Mekah, tetapi niatnya terpaksa dibatalkan kerana beliau kekurangan belanja.

Kemudiannya ia terus menetap di sana membuat pekerjaan sendiri, iaitu menjadi seorang tukang jahit. Semasa Haji Osman tinggal di sana beliau telah melihat bagaimana adat orang-orang Badwi menyambut Hari Keputeraan Nabi Muhammad (s.a.w). Setelah sekian lama tinggal di Mekah, Haji Osman balik ke Singapura, kemudian ia berpindah ke Batu Pahat, Johor. Di sinilah ia sering bertemu dan menceritakan kepada Encik Rahmat tentang bagaimana adat orang-orang Badwi itu.

Kononnya orang-orang Badwi apabila menyambut hari yang berkenaan, mereka akan keluar berkumpul beramai-ramai. Kemudian berarak sambil membawa tongkat. Dalam masa berjalan itu mereka akan menyanyi, menari sambil melonjak-lonjak. Tongkat yang mereka bawa itu dipukulkan kepada apa sahaja yang mereka temui seperti batu-batu, tiang, kayu, bangunan, dinding atau apa sahaja yang boleh menghasilkan bunyi. Orang-orang Badwi ini juga sambil memainkan alat muzik seperti gendang, menyanyi dalam bentuk syair.
