JAKARTA, 11 DISEMBER – MukaRakat melihat 2020 secara optimis dengan single terbaru mereka, “Toki Sloki”. Dalam trek reggae yang rancak ini, kumpulan hip-hop yang membesar di Flores dan menetap di Bali meraikan tradisi mereka, terutama sejenis minuman tradisi beralkohol. “Lagu ini meraikan kebersamaan dengan rakan taulan dan keluarga anda dengan meminum Sopi,” kata Lipooz selaku ketua kumpulan yang juga dianggotai oleh D’Flow, DirtyRazkal, A’Chi dan DJ GeraMar. “Ini diilhamkan oleh latar belakang budaya kami di mana alkohol tempatan selalu dilibatkan dalam hampir semua aktiviti tradisi kami.”
Menariknya, “Toki Sloki” tidak bermula sebagai lagu MukaRakat. “Lagu ini pada asalnya untuk projek solo saya, tetapi ketika saya berkumpul dengan anggota kumpulan yang lain dan memperdengarkan lagu tersebut, mereka sangat menyukainya,” kata Lipooz. “Toki Sloki” juga merupakan hasil kolaborasi rentas sempadan, di mana artis dan produser hip-hop terkenal Malaysia, SonaOne bersama-sama menulis lagu tersebut di samping turut menyumbangkan rentak dan penyusunan muzik, di mana Def Jam South East Asia bertindak untuk menghubungkan kedua-dua pihak. “Def Jam menghantar kepada kami beberapa pilihan trek, dan kami memilih rentak ini kerana ianya muzik ringan (easy listening) dan memiliki getaran reggae. Kebanyakan orang di Flores dan Indonesia Timur gemar reggae,” kata Lipooz. Sentuhan Malaysia dalam “Toki Sloki” juga ditambah oleh Jeson Huang, yang membuat proses pencampuran dan ‘mastering’ trek.
Selain meraikan masa-masa yang indah, terdapat juga makna yang lebih mendalam di sebalik “Toki Sloki”, yang memperluas misi MukaRakat untuk memperkenalkan Nusa Tenggara Timur, tempat asal usul mereka kepada rangkaian pendengar yang lebih luas. “Lagu ini istimewa kerana ia berdasarkan kisah benar, dan liriknya mengenai kehidupan yang biasa dilalui oleh kebanyakan orang di Indonesia Timur. Ini adalah gambaran sebenar,” kata Lipooz. “Kami berharap lagu ini dapat membuat orang Indonesia untuk menyedari betapa pelbagainya negara ini, terutama budaya tempatan, dan belajar bagaimana menerima kepelbagaian tersebut.”
