KUALA LUMPUR, 10 FEBRUARI 2022 – Telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 2007 dengan nama asal The OtaiBoyz, kumpulan berasal dari Singapura yang dibarisi Boy Botak (vokalis utama), Nazry (gitar utama), Dzoul (gitar kedua), Khai (bass), Lee (drum) dan Man (keyboard) meneruskan kembali kumpulan ini dengan nama baharu yang dikenali sebagai D’OtaiBoyz. Walaupun The OtaiBoyz bertahan dalam jangka masa yang singkat iaitu hanya setahun sahaja. Selepas 14 tahun berlalu, akhirnya mereka kembali bergabung semula pada tahun 2021 sebagai projek berkumpulan D’OtaiBoyz. 

Man berkata, ketika tahun 2007 mereka tidak mengeluarkan single dan bergerak dalam persembahan membawakan lagu-lagu ‘cover version’ di acara jemputan majlis keramaian sahaja. 

“Selepas pelbagai masalah yang dilalui dulu, membuatkan kami akhirnya mengambil keputusan untuk membubarkan kumpulan ini dan seterusnya ia terkubur.

“Namun sekitar tahun lalu, Boy Botak ada berbincang dengan saya mengatakan dia nak buat satu projek berkumpulan khas dan ingin berkolaborasi dengan saya.

“Dia ada minta pendapat saya berkenaan nama kumpulan. Saya pun teringat bahawa dulu saya pernah menggunakan nama The OtaiBoyz dan ia kena pula dengan nama penyanyi iaitu Boy Botak.” Ujarnya.

Biarpun bertapak di Singapura, salah seorang anggota D’OtaiBoyz berasal dari Malaysia. Beliau dikenali sebagai Dzoul yang merupakan pemain gitar kedua kumpulan ini.

Ditanya mengapa mereka memilih nama D’OtaiBoyz, Man menjelaskan bahawa nama itu dipilih untuk ketengahkan lagu-lagu malar segar (otai).

“Kami pilih nama itu sebab untuk ketengahkan lagu-lagu malar segar atau bahasa mudahnya ‘otai’ dengan irama berentak ‘rock kapak’ dan perkataan Boyz disebabkan kebetulan nama vokalis kami dikenali sebagai Boy Botak.” Katanya.

Terbaharu, D’OtaiBoyz telah melancarkan single terbaharu berjudul ‘Permata Ku’ dimana lagu ini berentak lebih kepada Balada Rockestra.

Menurut Man, ‘Permata Ku’ mengisahkan pasangan yang sedang bercinta tetapi berubah dengan sekelip mata atas sebab-sebab yang tertentu berkemungkinan curang atau sakit. 

“Terpulang pada pendengar untuk menilaikan.” Katanya.
