UPSI anjurkan reunion sempena 100 tahun penubuhannya

SHAH ALAM: Pusat Alumni Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) dengan kerjasama Anak Kandung Suluh Budiman (AKSB) Selangor telah menganjurkan program Reunion Perdana Reunion Shah Alam 2022 (RUSA’22) yang berlangsung selama 3 hari 2 malam pada 27 Mei sehingga 29 Mei yang lalu. Kira-kira 400 orang alumni UPSI telah menyertai Program Reunion Perdana (RUSA’22) yang terdiri daripada pelbagai era bermula dengan era Sultan Idris Training College (SITC), Maktab Perguruan Sultan Idris (MPSI), Institut Perguruan Sultan Idris (IPSI) dan Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

Program ini dianjurkan sempena sambutan 100 tahun penubuhan UPSI yang melibatkan empat era berbeza. Ia bermula dengan tertubuhnya Sultan Idris Training College (SITC) pada 29 November 1922 sebagai pusat pengajian dan kemudian diteruskan dengan era Maktab Perguruan Sultan Idris (MPSI) pada tahun 1957. Seterusnya, pada 21 Februari 1987, MPSI telah dinaik taraf menjadi Institut Perguruan Sultan Idris (IPSI) dan sejak 1 Mei 1997 sehingga kini, ia telah membuka lembaran baru sebagai Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).

Institut perguruan ulung ini telah memberi peluang kepada seluruh lapisan masyarakat dan rakyat Malaysia untuk merenung dan menyelami sejarah. UPSI terus meraikan tradisi dan pencapaian demi pencapaian yang dilakar dalam merekayasa pembangunan pendidikan negara.

Menurut Naib Canselor UPSI Profesor Dato Dr Md Amin Md Taff berkata, “reunion” atau temu semula rakan universiti itu diadakan sempena sambutan ulang tahun ke-100  Institusi bersejarah ini. “UPSI akan terus membantu negara memperkasakan pendidikan dan akan terus terpahat utuh dalam lipatan sejarah pendidikan negara” ujar beliau. Buku “Memorabilia Anak Desa ke Persada Muallim” telah dilancarkan semasa program tersebut. Buku ini merupakan sebuah antologi yang menghimpunkan 100 karya Anak Kandung Suluh Budiman iaitu alumni-alumni UPSI yang mengandungi pelbagai sajak, pantun, syair puisi dan kisah-kisah pendek.

Selain bertemu dengan rakan universiti, Pusat Alumni UPSI turut mengadakan Ziarah Kasih Ibu Kandung Suluh Budiman dan Sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri Anak Kandung Suluh Budiman pada 28 Mei 2022. Sambutan ini diadakan di salah satu bangunan tertua di Muallim iaitu Dewan SITC yang terletak di dalam Kampus Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah, UPSI.

“Alumni akan sentiasa menjadi aset terpenting buat universiti, kemenjadian dan keberhasilan alumni akan menjadi salah satu kayu ukur buat kami warga univerisiti” ujar Pengarah Pusat Alumni, Dr Siti Hartini Azmi. Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut ialah Prof. Madya Dr Norkhalid Salimin, Timbalan Naib Canselor (Hal Ehwal Pelajar dan Alumni) UPSI.

Pada majlis tersebut Alumni dari Sultan Idris Training College (SITC) turut diberikan penghargaan atas jasa dan pengorbanan mereka dalam memastikan pendidikan anak bangsa terus terbela.

Antara tokoh yang pernah mendapat pendidikan di UPSI adalah bekas Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Allahyarham Tun Ghafar Baba; bekas Menteri Kanan Singapura, Sidek Saniff, dan Allahyarham Tan Sri Prof Emeritus Dr Awang Had Salleh.

UPSI akan menyambut ulangtahun penubuhannya yang ke-100 pada 29 November tahun ini. Ini adalah legasi daripada penubuhan SITC, MPSI, IPSI dan kini UPSI.
