KUALA LUMPUR, 31 MAC 2021 – Dia seorang gadis muda, berkeyakinan dan berbakat! Penyanyi dan penulis lirik yang dikenali sebagai Sophia Zuhri melakukan kelainan daripada genre kebiasaan kepada gaya muzik lakuran (fusion) Britpop yang pastinya dapat memikat hati peminat pemuzik tanah air. 

Hari ini pada usia 17 tahun, Sophia telah menerbitkan single perdananya. Sophia memulakan karier nyanyian dan penulisan lagunya seawal usia 14 tahun.

Muzik sentiasa menjadi keutamaan bagi Sophia. Dengan kemahirannya bermain ukulele, Sophia menterjemahkan kehidupan sebenar melalui muzik.

“Selalunya saya akan menulis mengenai sesuatu situasi atau keadaan yang menyentuh perasaan saya, sama ada apa yang saya alami sendiri ataupun melalui pemerhatian di sekeliling.  Secara tidak langsung saya akan memetik ukulele dan mula menulis melodi atau menyanyikan lagu menerusi telefon bimbit,” kongsi gadis itu.

Minatnya dalam bidang muzik mempertemukan dia dengan komposer, penulis lirik dan penyanyi tersohor negara, Ajai.

Ia nyata tidak mengambil masa lama untuk Ajai menerokai bakat besar gadis itu. 

Di bawah kepakaran muzik yang dimiliki Ajai, mereka berdua berkongsi minat yang sama iaitu mengagumi pemuzik serta karya muzik yang hebat.

“Saya mahu dia memiliki vokal yang lebih baik berbanding dengan apa yang dimilikinya sekarang,” tambah Ajai.

Sebagai produser, Ajai mengatakan bakat Sophia mengingatkan kepadanya ketika beliau mula-mula menceburi industri muzik pada era 90-an.

“Saya dapat melihat diri saya dalam bakat Sophia. Sejujurnya, saya tidak menerbitkan lagu kepada semua orang, tetapi Sophia berbeza. 

“Dia memiliki kelasnya yang tersendiri dan membuatkan saya bersetuju untuk berkolaborasi,” kata Ajai atau nama penuhnya, Faizal Maas.

Kolaborasi magis Sophia-Ajai menghasilkan nukilan Game of Charades, dengan sentuhan Britpop edgy dan lagu ini mungkin akan menjadi lagu pilihan di aplikasi penstriman muzik Spotify anda! Lagu ini bercerita tentang ketidaksempurnaan manusia. Kita juga tidak boleh menilai orang lain hanya dengan penampilan mereka.

Menerusi lagu Game Of Charades, Sophia berharap dapat berkongsi rasa dan pengalaman muziknya kepada para peminat di Malaysia. 

Mereka berdua berkongsi minat yang sama iaitu mengagumi pemuzik serta karya muzik yang hebat.

Dia juga menaruh harapan tinggi agar single tersebut menjadi batu loncatan buatnya mengembangkan kerjaya dalam bidang penulisan lagu, sekali gus menjadi individu yang disegani dalam industri.

Video muzik Game of Charades, yang diarahkan oleh Amani Azlin turut dilancarkan pada 30 Mac 2021. Peminat boleh menonton video muzik di saluran YouTube Universal Music Malaysia mulai semalam (30 Mac 2021).

Video muzik yang menjalani penggambaran di UNI Studio LTE juga mendapat bantuan Pengarah Fotografi, Nicholas Chin dan Penolong Pengarah, Farah Fadzil serta pasukan penata gaya yang sangat berbakat.

“Itu adalah pengalaman yang mendebarkan,” kata Sophia.

Bagaimanapun, sikap pengarah dan kru yang memberikan sokongan yang tidak berbelah-bahagi membuatkan Sophia merasa selesa dan memastikan dia melakukan dengan baik.
