Projek ini diterajui oleh Jawatankuasa Malaysian Jazz Piano Festival (MJPF) dengan sokongan, bantuan dan sumbangan daripada komuniti muzik di Malaysia. Jawatankuasa MJPF ini diasaskan pada tahun 2013 dengan harapan untuk memperluaskan pengaruh jazz tempatan serta menyemai semangat komuniti muzik yang seikhlasnya mewakili jati diri Malaysia.
Motivasi utama sebalik buku ini adalah untuk kewujudan satu pelantar untuk menyatukan keseluruhan komuniti muzik Malaysia untuk berjuang bersama-sama. Sebagai sumber pendidikan yang komprehensif dan tepat yang amat diperlukan ia dapat merapatkan jurang pemisahan di antara pelajar muzik, pemuzik amatur, pendidik dan pemuzik profesional.
