BUKIT JALIL – Dimash Qudaibergen, a Kazakhstan singer who is famous for his wide vocal range and the first runner-up to the “Singer 2017” held his show at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on June 24 (Saturday). This was Dimash’s only show in Asia, and it successfully drew 6,000 fans to the concert.

The show was warmed up by three Malaysian singers. While the audience was applauding and shouting for Dimash excitedly, the artist showed up and kicked off the concert with “Golden” and “Zhalyn”. After that, he greeted the audience with “Assalamualaikum”.

As a multilingual person, Dimash not only thanked his fans in Kazakhstan and English, but he also expressed his gratitude in Malay. He began by saying “Selamat malam kawan- kawan dan tetamu sekalian” to the crowd before continuing with a series of thank-you speeches in Malay and wishing everyone to enjoy the performance.

Dimash interacted with his fans throughout the concert and blew kisses into the crowd several times. While receiving the confession from his fans, he responded “I love you too” which elicited even greater yells and cheers from the crowd. The audience also sang along when he was performing “Unforgettable Day”. Dimash was touched as he did not expect the fans would remember the lyrics, he then directed the audience to sing a section of the song in unison.

Siti Nurhaliza

In the middle of the concert, the special guest, Dato Seri Siti Nurhaliza showed up. Dimash described the songstress as “one of the most beautiful voices in the world” and a “great singer” who is loved by her fans. He said it was his honour to invite Siti Nurhaliza to be his special guest.

Siti Nurhaliza said if she isn’t invited as the special guest of the concert, she would have bought a ticket to be one of the audience that night. She then performed her popular songs “Bukan Cinta Biasa” and “Nirmala”. However, Dimash and Siti Nurhaliza were not able to sing a duet as they did not have enough time to have a rehearsal, due to the death of Dimash’s grandfather recently.

Dimash also integrated Kazakh culture into the concert. Besides wearing traditional Kazakh costumes and playing the traditional Kazakh musical instruments himself, Dimash also invited many musicians to perform the Kazakh folk song “Daididau” on stage. The music and his voice matched perfectly, making the audience immersed in the music of his hometown.

Before concluding the concert, Dimash jumped off the stage to shake hands and interact with his fans while performing “Screaming”, making his fans excited. After that, he introduced his team to the audience, and ended the concert with “Let it be”.
