‘Puas‘ adalah single kedua Ramayan yang telah dipetik daripada album penuh mereka yang pertama, Di Persiaran Cakrawala, selepas single pertama mereka, Lamunan Anak Bulan, dirilis pada 1 Mei 2020, diikuti oleh pelancaran album Di Persiaran Cakrawala pada 22 Januari tahun ini.
Album terbitan Luncai Emas ini telah menerima sambutan yang amat menggalakkan, memandangkan para peminat telah menunggu lebih 4 tahun untuk karya terbaru Ramayan. Lebihan lagi apabila berita tentang kolaborasi mereka bersama pengasas kugiran Sore dan pemuzik tersohor Indonesia, Mondo Gascaro, tersebar dan antisipasi untuk album ini pun makin meningkat. Single pertama, Lamunan Anak Bulan, pula menjadi kegemaran para peminat, dan juga menjadi muqadimah kepada pembaharuan muzik mereka; iaitu bunyi psychedelia yang berbeza daripada EP mereka namun tetap mengekalkan jiwa yang sama. Namun, setelah itu semua gembar-gembur pelancaran album ini terhambat apabila PKP diumumkan di seluruh negara, lalu menunda pelancarannya hampir setahun.
Lagu ini merupakan satu-satunya lagu yang ditulis oleh bekas ahli Ramayan; Naz (pemain keyboard) dan Amin (gitaris) yang asalnya ditulis untuk projek sampingan mereka.
“Kali pertama saya mendengar lagu ini dimain-mainkan oleh Naz di atas piano, saya terus tertarik dengan pilihan kordnya. Saya berjaya mendapatkan susunan kordnya daripada mereka dan apabila saya cuba meletakkan melodi nyanyian di atasnya, ia datang dengan begitu sahaja. Seolah-olah saya telah diberi ilham. Bukan sahaja melodi malah liriknya juga. Proses yang selalunya mengambil masa sehari untuk disiapkan selesai dalam masa beberapa jam sahaja.” kata Pi’e, vokalis dan gitaris kedua Ramayan.
“Waktu saya menulis lagu ini, saya sedang berada dalam situasi yang amat gelap dalam hidup saya. Dahulu saya percaya bahawa di mana sahaja ada cinta di situ ada Tuhan. Dan kepercayaan itu dirasai paling kuat apabila saya terjatuh cinta dengan seorang gadis. Malangnya, gadis itu telah dipunyai orang lain; sahabat akrab saya. Namun saya tetap berkeras dengan cinta itu, sehinggalah menyebabkan mereka berdua putus cinta. Saya pun merasa sangat menyesal dengan tingkah laku saya yang tidak mempunyai batas, maka tertulislah lagu ini; sebuah lagu penyesalan.” cerita Pi’e tentang makna dan sejarah di sebalik lagu Puas.
Puas merupakan satu percubaan oleh Ramayan untuk memberi nafas baru kepada muzik rock Malaysia, terutamanya genre ‘rock jiwang’ yang sedang bertakhta di kalangan pendengar-pendengar massa. Ramayan berpendapat bahawa bunyi rock yang sedang dibawa oleh kebanyakan artis hari ini kurang kualiti dan nilai kepuasannya dari segi kreativiti dan mesej yang disampaikan dalam lirik-liriknya.
“Kebanyakan penulis sekarang hanya mengambil berat tentang apa yang catchy dan easy-listening, menulis lirik yang tidak memerlukan daya pemikiran dan falsafah; yang tidak bermakna. Kami pun tulis tentang cinta juga, tapi cara kami tulis tentang cinta itu berbeza. Kami cuba melihat daripada sudut yang berbeza dan lebih mendalam. Dan ini yang membuat lagu Puas unik pada pendapat saya.” Jelas Que selaku pemain drum Ramayan.
Daripada segi instrumentasi dan muziknya pula, Ramayan mengambil inspirasi daripada irama lagu-lagu balada 80an dan 90an seperti karya-karya Sudirman, Carefree, Kenny Remy Martin, Aman Shah dan yang serupa dengannya. Muzik seperti ini tidak asing lagi pada telinga rakyat Malaysia; irama dan melodinya yang tersendiri telah menjadi sebati dengan jiwa mereka.
“Kami ingin mendapatkan kedudukan yang sama di dalam jiwa orang ramai, dengan menggunakan unsur-unsur yang ada di dalam karya zaman itu untuk membangkitkan nostalgia, dan menggabungkannya dengan gaya psychedelic kami sendiri.” Kata Omar selaku pemain bass Ramayan.
Telah menjadi harapan lama Ramayan, bahawa lagu-lagu mereka akan dibawa ke dalam dunia perfileman, sama ada digunakan sebagai lagu tema sebuah drama bersiri, atau soundtrack kepada sebuah filem dan sebagainya. Ramayan percaya bahawa lagu Puas terutamanya sesuai kerana mood lagunya yang penuh dinamik dan emosi, seolah-olah lagu itu sendiri menceritakan sebuah kisah drama. Terdapat juga beberapa lagu Ramayan sebelum ini yang telah diambil untuk menjadi sebahagian daripada soundtrack dokumentari dan drama tv.
Puas telah dirilis secara digital di bawah Luncai Emas pada bulan April yang lepas di semua platform streaming termasuk Spotify, JOOX, iTunes dan Deezer juga audio rasmi di YouTube. Rilisan tersebut diikuti dengan sebuah video persembahan live terbitan Luncai Emas dan Bsync Production yang telah dirakam di Bsync Studios pada bulan Disember 2020 dan dilancarkan di YouTube.
Ramayan telah membuat pelbagai rancangan untuk tahun ini berikutan dengan pelancaran album mereka; majlis pelancaran album, tour persembahan se-Malaysia, video muzik dan lain-lain. Namun disebabkan PKPD yang sedang berkuatkuasa, segala rancangan yang telah dibuat sehingga kini terpaksa ditunda. Walaupun begitu, mereka bersikap optimistik dan sentiasa mencari cara untuk menggunakan kemudahan internet dengan sepenuhnya.
