KUALA LUMPUR – The highly anticipated Hong Kong martial arts action manga-based film, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, is confirmed on 17th May 2024 and Malaysian audiences can now mark your calendars to experience this cinematic marvel on the big screen.

Based on the renowned novel by Yu Er and cult manga by Andy Seto, the film features an ensemble cast including Sammo Hung, Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Philip Ng, Terrance Lau, Tony Wu Tsz Tung, Richie Jen, and Wong Tak-bun, among others. Veteran actor and pivotal figure in the film, Sammo Hung, who portrays ‘Mr Big,’ recently received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards. His multifaceted role as producer, director, action choreographer, and actor underscores his commitment to the Hong Kong film industry’s success.

Director Soi Cheang, received the “Best Director” award at the same ceremony for another project, further highlighting his skill and anticipation for “Twilight of the Warriors – Walled In.” He emphasized the film’s unique Hong Kong essence and the rare opportunity to showcase it at Cannes, stating, “While the Walled City may be gone, our team aims to preserve its legacy through film, introducing it to a wider audience.”

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In is an adaptation of the cult manga series “City of Darkness” by Andy Seto. Set in the eighties inside the dangerous and enigmatic Kowloon Walled City, which was a de jure Chinese enclave within British colonial Hong Kong, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In follows troubled youth Chan Luk-kwun as he accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers the order amidst its chaos, and learns important life lessons along the way. In the Walled City, he becomes close friends with Shin, Twelfth Master and AV. Under the leadership of Cyclone, they resist against the invasion of villain Mr. Big in a series of fierce battles. Together, they vow to protect the safe haven that is Kowloon Walled City.
