ANTARA yang menarik dalam kita menghayati setiap rilisan album kugiran yang kita ikuti ialah perbezaan garapan muzik dan kematangan yang seiring dengan usia mereka. Begitu yang turut berlaku kepada Suffercation; sebuah band lama, “otai” kata orang dalam arus keras muzik bawah tanah tempatan.


Lahirnya album ini agak mengejutkan, bagi mereka yang mungkin sudah lama tidak mengikuti perkembangan kumpulan death metal dari Kelantan ini. Suffercation kembali dengan album kesembilan mereka, “Altered The Past Future” yang menampilkan lapan buah lagu (plus satu intro) bergenre death metal. Bagi album ini, Suffercation turut mendapat sentuhan dari pemain bes lagenda Lefthanded, Yan.

Setelah beberapa bulan menikmati buah tangan terbaharu kugiran adik-beradik ini, album ini ternyata mengimbau kembali era kegemilangan death metal sekitar tahun-tahun 90an; dengan produksi yang lebih baik, bunyi yang kedab, bersih dan padu melekat di telinga tatkala menyarung headphones untuk meneliti setiap inci bunyi pakej album ini.

Sementelah, Suffercation sendiri berdiri dengan mantap untuk album ini dari setiap lagu-lagu yang mereka mainkan. Paling jelas sebabnya ialah dengan bunyi yang “sungguh bersih” dan produksi tiptop bagi sebuah album metal, amat wajarlah album ini dipuji dan diberi kredit yang sepatutnya kepada mereka ini yang masih utuh pegangan manhaj death metal mereka sejak dari lewat tahun 80an hingga sekarang.

CUMA; secara jujur kami mengharapkan lebih “keganasan dan kebrutalan” dari album ini, seperti mana 3 album terawal mereka, namun kami sedikit terkilan untuk itu. Juga mengharapkan petikan bes Yantoi lebih menonjol dalam album ini. Bukan tidak dengar, tetapi mahu sedikit bunyi dan tonasi bes beliau lebih “menggerutu dan berkerak” disitu. Yan Lefthanded kot dalam tu. Lejen tuuu…

Selain dari semua pendapat jujur itu, album ini amatlah menggiurkan dari sudut keseluruhan produksi bunyinya, dengarkan pukulan dram Ly Razak dan hentakan bes dram beliau yang begitu jelas dan terang kedengaran dalam setiap lagu. Bagi kami, apa makna bunyi metal jika bunyi dram yang dihidangkan tidak mencapai par standard sebuah kugiran metal bukan. Nah! Suffercation kembali dengan pakej album terbaharu ini “ALTERED THE PAST FUTURE!”

Kesimpulan kami; kami mentarjihkan kesemua lagu dalam album ini sedap2 belaka. Lebihkan perhatian kepada lagu-lagu : “Destroying The Mankind” (ada rapping vokal disitu!), “Obey The Disobedience”, “Posthumous” (yang menyelitkan snippet bunyi persembahan Mak Yong, menarik idea ni teringat pulak Sepultura era Chaos AD dan Roots!) dan lagu terakhir “The Remains”! Dengarkan vokalis jemputan Marl dari Kreation Of Doom menyeksa tekak beliau. Bisa kotak suara boleh rosak woo~
